How much exercise does a Lhasa Apso need?

Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Lhasa Apso enjoys and signs of too much or too little.

Around 30 to 45 minutes of daily activity keeps an adult Lhasa fit, split into two walks plus some indoor play. They enjoy exploring and sniffing far more than running laps. Many like puzzle toys, short trick sessions and a good game of chase down the hallway, and indoor play counts toward the total on rainy days.

Their slightly shortened muzzle and heavy coat make them less heat tolerant than you might expect. Skip midday walks in summer and carry water. Too little exercise shows up as barking, restlessness and weight gain. Too much, or too much heat, shows up as a dog that lies down and refuses to go on. Respect that signal.
