Steady rather than dramatic describes Lhasa growth. Most reach adult height by 8 to 10 months and final weight by about a year. The coat is the slow part: the soft puppy coat gradually gives way to the adult coat between roughly 10 and 18 months, and this transition is when matting is at its worst.
During the coat change, brush daily and line-brush all the way to the skin, because mats form fast where soft puppy hair tangles with the incoming adult hair. Keep an eye on joints and eyes as well. A puppy that skips or holds up a back leg may have a kneecap problem, and squinting, redness or cloudiness in an eye should be checked by a vet promptly.
