How much exercise does a Japanese Spitz need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Japanese Spitz enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
About 45 to 60 minutes of activity a day is a good target: two walks plus some play. Many Japanese Spitz enjoy agility, rally, trick training and scent work, and they learn fast enough to make those hobbies rewarding. Their cold tolerance is excellent, and snow days tend to bring out their silliest side.
Heat is the bigger concern. The dense coat makes summer walks tiring, so go out early and late and carry water. A restless, barky dog in the evening usually needs more mental activity rather than more distance, and ten minutes of training or a sniffing game often settles them. A dog that flops down and pants hard mid-walk is telling you it is too warm.
