Miniature Pinscher feeding guide: how much and how often

Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Miniature Pinscher.

An adult weighing 4 to 5 kg generally needs 250 to 330 kcal a day, which is about 60 to 85 g of a typical small-breed kibble (around three quarters of a cup), split into two meals. Very active Min Pins burn a lot, but they also gain weight fast if treats become a habit.

Use part of each day's ration for training so rewards do not add extra calories. Min Pins often eat quickly and may guard food from other pets, so feed them in a separate spot. A small, heavy bowl that does not slide across the floor helps with enthusiastic eaters, and a puzzle feeder is an easy way to add mental work to mealtimes.
