How much exercise does a Miniature Schnauzer need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Miniature Schnauzer enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes of activity a day, split into two walks plus some play. Minis love sniffing along hedges and will trot happily for an hour, but they also thrive on shorter, more interesting outings: a new route, a find-it game with treats hidden in the grass, or ten minutes of trick practice in the garden.
Plenty of Minis shine in agility, rally and earthdog trials, where speed and focus pay off. A dog that is short of things to do usually shows it through nuisance barking at the window, shredding the post or pacing in the evening. At the other end, a dog that lags behind, pants hard in mild weather or seems stiff the next morning is telling you to scale back for a few days.
