Bolognese puppy growth: milestones and weight estimates
How fast a Bolognese puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Bolognese puppies weigh around 700 g to 1 kg (1.5 to 2 lb) at eight weeks and reach adult size by about 10 to 12 months. The coat changes more than the body: the soft puppy coat starts turning into the adult coat at around 8 to 14 months, and during this period it mats far faster than before. Many owners are caught off guard by how quickly tangles form at this age.
Toy puppies can become weak or wobbly if they go too long without food, so feed three or four small meals a day until about four months old. Discourage jumps from sofas and beds, which can injure small joints. A puppy that becomes lethargic, trembling or unsteady needs to see a vet straight away.
