At eight weeks most puppies weigh somewhere between 500 g and 1 kg (1 to 2 lb), and they reach adult size by about 8 to 10 months. Long-haired dogs keep developing their fringes for much longer, often up to 3 years, so a young adult may look surprisingly plain.
Baby teeth often fail to fall out on their own in this breed, leaving two teeth crowded into one space. Check your puppy's mouth weekly from about 4 months and mention it at the 6-month vet visit. Puppies are also at risk of breaking a leg in a fall; hold them securely against your body, keep them off high furniture and use ramps or steps where needed.
