Pharaoh Hound feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Pharaoh Hound.
Pharaoh Hounds are naturally lean, and a fit one shows a slight outline of the last ribs and hip bones. A 22 kg adult usually does well on 250 to 320 g of dry food a day, roughly 2.5 to 3.25 cups. Many are sensible eaters that stop when full, but others become skilled kitchen thieves, and their height puts counters well within reach.
Feed two meals a day and allow at least an hour of rest before hard running, since deep-chested hounds carry some bloat risk. With so little body fat, weight loss shows quickly in this breed. If your hound drops noticeable weight over a few weeks or refuses food for more than a day, contact your vet.
