Pharaoh Hound grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Pharaoh Hound: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The short coat needs little more than a weekly wipe with a damp cloth or a rubber mitt. Shedding is light, and the breed is known for being clean, with almost no doggy smell. A bath every few months is plenty.
Nails deserve more attention than the coat: trim every two weeks to keep the feet tight and comfortable for running. Check the large upright ears weekly for dirt and wax. Thin skin and a short coat make scrapes common after runs through rough ground, so look your hound over afterwards and let a vet examine any deep or gaping wound.
