A practical grooming routine for the Staffordshire Bull Terrier: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Grooming is simple: a rubber curry brush or hound glove once a week lifts dead hair and brings up the shine. Shedding is light but steady all year. Bathe only when needed, perhaps every 2 to 3 months, with a gentle shampoo, because Staffy skin can be prone to dryness and irritation.
Pay more attention to skin than coat. Check the belly, armpits and between the toes for redness, especially in summer, and run your hands over the body for new lumps. Trim nails every 3 to 4 weeks and brush teeth several times a week. White and pale-coated Staffies can burn on the nose and belly, so give them shade in strong sun.
