Swedish Vallhund grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Swedish Vallhund: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The coat is practical and weatherproof, and dried mud usually brushes straight out. A weekly session with a slicker brush or undercoat rake is enough for most of the year. Twice a year the undercoat releases heavily for a few weeks, and daily brushing during that period keeps the hair on the dog rather than all over your floors.
Baths are needed only every two to three months or after a proper roll in something foul. Do not shave the coat. Trim nails every three to four weeks, check the ears weekly and brush teeth a few times a week.
