Vizsla grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Vizsla: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Grooming is the easy part of owning a Vizsla. A weekly once-over with a rubber curry mitt or soft bristle brush lifts dead hair and spreads natural oils. Shedding is light but constant, and the short hairs have a habit of weaving themselves into fabric, so a lint roller earns its place by the door.
A bath a few times a year is enough for most, plus extra after rolling in something foul. Check and gently wipe the hanging ears every week, especially after swimming. Nails grow fast on dogs that run mostly on grass, so trim them every two to three weeks. After woodland or field runs, look over the paws and coat for grass seeds, thorns and small cuts.
