White Swiss Shepherd feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the White Swiss Shepherd.
An adult of around 35 kg (77 lb) usually needs about 380 to 480 g of dry food a day, roughly 4 to 5 cups, adjusted for activity and the food's energy content. Many individuals have delicate digestion, so change foods slowly over seven to ten days and avoid frequent switching. Loose stools after rich treats or table scraps are common in the breed.
Like other large, deep-chested dogs, White Swiss Shepherds have some risk of bloat. Feeding two smaller meals rather than one, letting the dog rest for about an hour after eating, and using a slow feeder for gulpers are sensible precautions. A stable, heavy bowl at a comfortable height keeps mealtimes calm; raising it high is not a proven way to prevent bloat.
