Training a White Swiss Shepherd: what works and what to expect

This is where the breed shines. White Swiss Shepherds learn new behaviors in a handful of repetitions and enjoy structured sessions with their owners. Food rewards, tug and praise all work, and training based on reward suits their sensitive nature. Heavy corrections can make them anxious or shut down.

The main challenges come from their devotion and caution. Socialize puppies widely between 8 and 16 weeks with different people, places and sounds to prevent shyness in adulthood. Teach a settle on a mat and short periods of separation early, so your dog learns to relax when you leave the room. Many also need help managing excited barking at the door.
