Training an American Bully: what works and what to expect
How the American Bully learns, common training challenges and what motivates it.
American Bullies are generally keen to please and food motivated, which makes reward-based training effective. Start early with basic manners, loose-lead walking and calm greetings, since a strong adult that pulls or jumps up can be hard to handle.
Socialization with other dogs deserves real effort. Many Bullies are friendly with people but can become reactive with dogs, especially of the same sex. Controlled, positive introductions, a good obedience class and impulse-control games help a great deal. Harsh training methods tend to backfire and can damage trust.
