Azawakh feeding guide: how much and how often

An adult Azawakh of about 20 kg (44 lb) typically eats 250 to 330 g of dry food a day, roughly 2.5 to 3.5 cups, although needs vary widely between individuals. Appetite often drops noticeably in hot weather or when the dog is unsettled. Some are fussy eaters, and many prefer two small meals to one large one.
Do not judge this breed by the standards of a Labrador. A fit Azawakh shows its hip bones and the outline of several ribs, and adding food to cover them only adds weight to a light frame. Ask your vet or breeder to show you correct condition. As a deep-chested sighthound, it has some bloat risk, so rest after meals and avoid gulping; a stable bowl at a comfortable height helps such a tall dog eat without splaying its front legs.
