How much exercise does a Beauceron need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Beauceron enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult Beauceron needs at least 90 minutes of activity a day, and working lines often want more. Good outlets include herding lessons, tracking, obedience, canicross, running alongside a bicycle once mature, and long off-lead hikes where recall is reliable. Without a job, the breed tends to invent one, such as rounding up the children or guarding the gate against delivery drivers.
Mental exercise matters as much as physical. Scent work, puzzle toys and 10 minute training sessions tire the mind in a way a run cannot. Pacing, barking and destructive chewing are the usual signs of too little activity. For puppies and adolescents, focus on free play and exploring new places rather than distance.
