Beauceron grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Beauceron: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
The coat is practical and weatherproof. Brush once a week with a rubber curry and a bristle brush, and daily during the spring and autumn sheds, when an undercoat rake helps enormously. Baths are rarely needed; dried mud usually brushes straight out.
The double dewclaws need regular attention. They do not touch the ground, so they never wear down and can curl into the pad if neglected. Trim them with the other nails every 2 to 4 weeks. Check ears weekly, especially natural drop ears, which are now the norm since cropping is banned across most of Europe.

Coat
Short, dense and weather resistant outer coat of about 3 to 4 cm, over a close grey undercoat, with light fringing on the tail and the back of the thighs.
