Border puppies reach adult height by about 9 to 10 months and fill out through their first year, sometimes continuing to broaden until 15 months. At 12 weeks many weigh around 2.5 to 3.5 kg, depending on whether they come from lighter or heavier parents.
A young Border Terrier's enthusiasm is not a measurement of safe exercise duration. Increase activity gradually, provide breaks and discuss appropriate exercise with your vet. The five-minute-per-month rule should not be treated as a protective limit. Stiffness, trembling or unusual movement after activity needs veterinary assessment rather than a diagnosis based on breed alone.
