Welsh Terrier puppies grow quickly and reach adult height at around 9 to 10 months and full weight by about 12 months. The color change is striking: puppies are born mostly black, and over the first year the tan spreads across the head, legs and underside while the black shrinks back to a saddle or jacket on the back.
The first year is also when the terrier personality emerges, often with a headstrong adolescent phase between 6 and 12 months. Keep training consistent, and introduce grooming, handling and a grooming table early. Contact your vet if you notice limping, persistent itching, or a red or cloudy eye, since early checks make these far easier to manage.
