Borzoi grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Borzoi: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Two or three brushing sessions a week keep the long, silky coat in order. Use a pin brush and a wide-toothed comb, paying attention to the feathering on the legs and chest and the soft hair behind the ears, where mats form first. During the main annual shed, often in spring or summer, daily brushing helps.
Bathe every 6 to 8 weeks or when needed. Trim the hair between the pads to keep traction on smooth floors, since a long-legged dog slipping on tiles can injure itself. Borzois have little doggy odor and tend to keep themselves clean.
