That amount is small, which means treats can quickly tip the balance: three small biscuits can add ten percent to the daily intake. Cairns are persuasive beggars and gain weight easily after neutering, so weigh your dog monthly on a kitchen scale by weighing yourself holding it.
A shallow to medium-depth stainless steel or ceramic bowl suits the breed's short muzzle and is easy to clean. Some Cairns develop itchy skin or ears, and diet is occasionally a factor; if your dog scratches, chews its feet or has recurring ear trouble, ask your vet before switching foods repeatedly.
