A practical grooming routine for the Italian Greyhound: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Coat care could not be simpler. A soft cloth or rubber mitt once a week and an occasional bath, every one to two months, keep the coat shiny. Shedding is light and the hair is so fine many owners hardly notice it.
Teeth are the real grooming priority. Brush daily with a dog toothpaste if you can, or at least four times a week, because IGs are well known for heavy tartar and early gum problems. Trim nails every two to three weeks, since long nails affect how a light dog places its feet. The thin skin can nick on brambles, so check the body after walks in rough ground.
