How much exercise does a Pumi need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Pumi enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
A healthy adult generally needs at least 90 minutes of exercise a day, including walks, running, play and training. Pumik excel at agility, herding trials, obedience, scent work and trick training. Many also enjoy hiking and, once fully grown, running beside a bicycle on soft paths.
Mental work matters as much as mileage. Without both, expect barking, herding of family members, fence running and self-invented demolition projects. An over-tired Pumi can become snappy or frantic rather than sleepy, so build in calm rest periods, such as crate time with a chew, between active sessions.
