How fast a Labradoodle puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Growth depends on size. Standard Labradoodles reach most of their height by 10 to 12 months and fill out until 16 to 18 months, while miniatures are close to adult size by 9 or 10 months. Puppy coats are soft and usually change between 6 and 12 months, when the adult coat grows in and matting can suddenly get much worse.
Hip and elbow health matters in both parent breeds, so keep puppies lean and avoid long runs, repeated jumping and endless stair use until the growth plates close, often around 12 to 14 months for standards. Ask your vet to check joints at routine visits. Limping, stiffness after rest or a swaying gait at the back end are reasons for an earlier appointment.
