Keeshond puppies look like small bears for the first few months, and the fluffy puppy coat is shed and replaced between about 6 and 12 months. Most reach adult height by 12 months and fill out by 15 to 18 months. A 12-week-old puppy commonly weighs 5 to 7 kg (11 to 15 lb).
The spectacles and full ruff can take until 2 years to appear completely, so do not judge the coat at 6 months. Keep your puppy slim and limit jumping from heights to protect developing joints, particularly the knees, which can be prone to slipping in this breed. If your puppy skips a step on a back leg or carries it for a few strides, mention it to your vet, and go sooner if it keeps happening.
