Sealyham puppies grow steadily and reach adult size around 10 to 12 months, with the body continuing to thicken until about 18 months. Early growth is sturdy, but the long back and short legs mean jumping needs managing. Lift young dogs on and off sofas and in and out of cars, or use ramps.
Puppies arrive with a soft, fluffy coat that gradually harshens between six and twelve months. Start short, pleasant grooming sessions early so that stripping later becomes routine. Watch for cloudy or red eyes, squinting or a puppy that bumps into furniture, and have your vet check the eyes if you see any of these.
