How much exercise does a Norwich Terrier need?

Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Norwich Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.

Do not let the size fool you. A fit Norwich can manage 8 km (5 miles) or more, and 45 to 60 minutes a day of walks and play keeps most adults content. They love sniffing, digging, ball games and earthdog trials, which let them work through tunnels toward a safely caged quarry.

Their hunting drive means walks should be on a lead or in secure spaces, because a Norwich can vanish down a rabbit hole or across a road after a squirrel. Garden fencing needs to go below ground level, since they dig under easily. Bored dogs become noisy and inventive, while overweight ones tire noticeably early.
