How fast a Pomeranian puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Pom puppies grow fast and finish early. Many weigh well under 1 kg (2.2 lb) when they go home at 8 to 10 weeks, are close to their final weight by six months, and reach full adult size at around 10 to 12 months. Because the numbers are so small, weigh your puppy every week or two on a kitchen or baby scale: a gain or loss of 100 g is significant at this size.
The coat is the dramatic part of growing up. Between roughly 4 and 10 months the fluffy puppy coat falls out, sometimes leaving a thin, patchy look before the adult double coat grows in, and this is normal. Two things are worth a vet check during this stage: a puppy that skips or holds up a hind leg (kneecap problems often show up in this age range), and baby teeth still in place beside the adult tooth that has come through.
