How much exercise does a Lagotto Romagnolo need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Lagotto Romagnolo enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Plan for 60 to 90 minutes of activity a day, with a good share of it involving the nose. Lagotti love swimming, retrieving and above all searching games. Hide treats or a scented toy in the garden, join a nosework class, or look for a truffle detection course, which some trainers in Europe and North America now offer for pet dogs.
Without enough mental work, a Lagotto digs, barks and chews. If you want to keep your lawn intact, create a designated digging pit and bury toys there to make it the best spot in the garden. At the other extreme, a dog kept busy from dawn to dusk can become overexcited and struggle to settle, so balance activity with quiet time and chews.
