How much exercise does a Skye Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Skye Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Two walks and a little play, adding up to 45 to 60 minutes a day, suit most adults. Skyes like exploring, sniffing and investigating holes, and some enjoy earthdog tests or scentwork. They are not built for long runs or jump-heavy agility courses, but they are sturdy walkers and can manage a longer countryside ramble at their own pace.
That long back is the main thing to protect. Limit jumping on and off furniture, fit ramps where you can, and lift the dog with one hand under the chest and the other under the rear. A bored Skye may dig, bark or dig in its heels, while an over-exercised one may seem stiff or unwilling to go out the next day.
