Affenpinscher puppies grow quickly and usually reach adult height and weight by 9 to 10 months. At 12 weeks many weigh between 1.2 and 2 kg. Their bones are fine, so jumps from furniture and rough play with larger dogs are real hazards during growth.
Toy breeds including the Affen can develop a hip problem called Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, which often shows up between 4 and 12 months. Watch for a young dog that starts limping on a hind leg, carries a leg, or resents its hip being touched, and see your vet if any of this lasts more than a day or two.
