How much exercise does an Australian Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities an Australian Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Around 45 to 60 minutes a day of walks and play keeps most adults content. Aussies enjoy brisk walks, ball games, tug, sniff walks and dog sports such as earthdog, agility and rally. They are sturdy enough for longer country hikes once fully grown, and many relish digging and hunting games in a safe spot.
Without enough activity, expect barking, digging and restless patrolling of windows and fences. With too much, particularly in heat, they may lag behind, pant heavily or lie down on walks. A secure garden matters: these terriers will chase a cat or squirrel through a gap in a hedge without a second thought.
