Bichon puppies grow steadily and reach adult height at around 9 to 10 months, filling out fully by 12 months. A typical puppy weighs between 1.5 and 2.5 kg at 10 weeks, depending on the size of the parents.
The puppy coat is softer and straighter than the adult coat. Between about 7 and 12 months the harder curly outer coat grows in, and this change is when many dogs get their first serious mats. Get your puppy used to brushing, bathing and a hairdryer from the first week, in short and positive sessions, so grooming never becomes a fight.
