Biewer Terrier feeding guide: how much and how often

Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Biewer Terrier.

A 3 kg (6.6 lb) adult typically eats about 45 to 65 g of a small-breed dry food a day, roughly half a cup, divided into two or three meals. Because portions are so tiny, a few extra treats can quickly lead to weight gain, and even 200 g extra body weight is a significant change for a dog this size. Weigh food using a kitchen scale rather than guessing.

Choose a small kibble that suits a tiny mouth, and a shallow, stable bowl that the dog can reach comfortably without stretching. Ceramic or stainless steel is easy to keep clean. Many Biewers keep their long facial hair tied up in a topknot, which keeps it out of the food. Clean the face after meals to prevent staining and irritation.

Puppy portions need measured weight, growth stage and the food’s energy content. A breed-average curve is not a feeding plan. Calculate with measured inputs and review the result with your vet.
