How much exercise does a Field Spaniel need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Field Spaniel enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
About 60 to 90 minutes a day suits most adults. Fields are happiest with their nose involved: hunting through cover, working a scent trail or retrieving dummies from water. Many owners take up gundog training or scent work, and the breed's steady pace makes it a pleasant hiking companion.
An under-exercised Field may become clingy, mouthy or vocal. Overdoing it is less common in adults, but young dogs tire quickly, and the darker coats absorb heat on sunny days. On warm afternoons, a swim in safe water is often the best exercise of all.
