How much exercise does a Lakeland Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Lakeland Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Sixty minutes a day, split between walks, games and training, suits most adult Lakelands. They are athletic for their size and love to run, climb, dig in permitted spots and investigate. Earthdog trials, agility, flyball and tricks are all excellent outlets, and many happily join their owners on long hill walks.
Because of their hunting background they chase small animals, so keep them on lead near roads and anywhere with livestock or wildlife. A secure fence matters, as Lakelands dig under and climb over. An under-exercised Lakie barks more, excavates flowerbeds and becomes pushy. A tired one naps contentedly and is easy to live with.
