How much exercise does a Keeshond need?

Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Keeshond enjoys and signs of too much or too little.

About 45 to 60 minutes a day is plenty for most adults: two walks plus some play in the garden. Keeshonden enjoy agility, trick training and obedience, where their quick minds and willingness shine, and many adore snow. They are not built for long-distance running.

Warm weather is the limiting factor. Above around 22°C (72°F), keep walks short and shaded and offer a cool floor at home. A bored Keeshond barks more, so mental work such as sniffing games or learning a new trick matters as much as distance. Heavy panting, weakness or bright red gums on a hot day are reasons to stop, rest in shade and call a vet if your dog does not recover quickly.
