Lapphund puppies grow at a moderate pace, reaching close to adult height by about 12 months. They continue to broaden and grow coat for another six to twelve months, and males often do not carry their full mane until two or three years old. Mentally, many stay puppyish until around two.
The fluffy puppy coat can make young dogs look heavier than they are, so judge condition by touch. Keep exercise playful and self-paced until 12 months, avoiding long runs beside a bike or repeated jumping.
