Komondor puppies arrive with soft, curly white coats and look rather like lambs. They grow fast, often gaining several kilograms a month during the early months, and reach adult height at around 18 months. Chest depth and full adult weight take until two or three years. The coat starts separating into cords somewhere between 9 months and 2 years.
Controlled growth matters in giant breeds. Feed a food formulated for large-breed puppies, keep your puppy slim, and avoid forced running, stairs at speed and jumping out of vehicles until growth plates close. A puppy that limps, hops with both back legs together or seems reluctant to get up should be seen by a vet, since joint problems are easier to manage when caught early.
