How much exercise does a Welsh Terrier need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Welsh Terrier enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
About 60 minutes a day suits most adult Welsh Terriers. They enjoy brisk walks, fetch, tug, scent games, earthdog trials, agility and exploring new places. They have the stamina for long hikes and can keep up with active owners.
Off-lead freedom is best limited to secure areas, as a Welshie will chase squirrels, cats and rabbits and may ignore recall until the chase ends. Under-exercised dogs dig, bark and chew; overtired ones can become grumpy. Mental work, such as puzzle feeders and short training sessions, matters as much as physical exercise.
