Puppies usually weigh around 3 to 5 kg at 10 weeks and grow steadily until about 9 or 10 months, when height is close to final. They keep adding muscle and coat until roughly 14 months. Because the breed was built by selecting for small size, puppies in one litter can differ more than you might expect, so the size of the parents is a better guide than any chart.
Keep an eye on the joints. Kneecap problems (patellar luxation) occur in the breed, and like other herding dogs it can inherit hip dysplasia. Keep puppies lean, stop them leaping off furniture over and over, and hold off on high jumps and long runs on hard surfaces until your vet confirms growth is complete, usually after 12 months. A puppy that skips, hops on one back leg or seems reluctant to climb stairs should be seen by a vet.
