Grooming is simple. A rubber mitt or hound glove once a week removes loose hair and brings up the shine. Shedding is light to moderate, with a small rise in spring. Bathe when your dog smells or has rolled in something, which with a hound can be fairly often; like most hounds, Redbones have a natural musky odor that frequent baths don't fully remove.
The ears are the main job. Check and clean them weekly, especially after swimming or wet walks, using a cleaner your vet recommends. Wipe the lip folds if your dog drools, and trim nails every two to three weeks, since dogs that walk mostly on grass don't wear them down.
