How much exercise does a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Griffons need 60 to 90 minutes of exercise a day, ideally with some off-lead running in safe areas. Hunting, field trials, versatile hunting tests, hiking, swimming and scent work all suit them. They were bred to work at a steady trot for hours over rough ground, so their stamina is considerable.
A Griffon without enough outlets will dig, chew, bark or wander off to find its own fun. Adolescents should not be pushed too hard, however. Signs of fatigue in an adult include lagging, heavy panting or stiffness after a long day out. In hot weather the coat holds heat, so bring plenty of water and plan for shade.
