How much exercise does a Boykin Spaniel need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Boykin Spaniel enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
A tired Boykin is usually a wet one. Most need about 60 to 90 minutes of daily activity, ideally including swimming, retrieving or field work. They are happiest with a job, whether that is hunting, dock diving, hunt tests, agility or retrieving training dummies in a field.
Too little exercise shows up as restlessness, chewing and attention seeking. In hot weather, watch for overheating during intense retrieving sessions, because a keen Boykin will keep going long after it should stop. After swimming, dry the ears thoroughly to reduce the risk of ear problems.
