How much exercise does a Finnish Lapphund need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Finnish Lapphund enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Around 60 minutes of daily activity keeps most adults content, including some free running and a chance to use their brains. Lapphunds enjoy hiking, obedience, agility, rally and herding trials, and many love simple searching games. Snow brings out their best; a winter walk that would chill most breeds is exactly what a Lappie was built for.
Heat is their weak point. In summer, walk early in the morning and late in the evening, provide shade and water, and cut sessions short above about 22 °C (72 °F). Heavy panting, seeking cold floors and refusing to walk on are signs to stop. Too little stimulation, on the other hand, usually shows up as more barking.
