How much exercise does a Standard Schnauzer need?

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes a day. Standards were all-round farm dogs and enjoy variety: brisk walks, hiking, jogging with a mature dog, agility, rally obedience and scent work. Many are quietly brilliant at barn hunt, since hunting rats was part of their original job description.
Too little exercise shows quickly as barking, window guarding and general mischief. A full coat also makes them feel the heat, so walk early on hot days and keep sessions shorter. A Schnauzer that has had a good outing usually settles into a contented nap and guards the house from the sofa.
