How much exercise does a Bearded Collie need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Bearded Collie enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult Beardie needs at least 90 minutes to two hours of activity a day. Long country walks, free running with other dogs, herding lessons, agility and flyball all suit the breed. Beardies have excellent stamina in cold, wet weather and seem to enjoy conditions that keep other dogs indoors.
Without enough to do, a Beardie barks, digs or herds whatever moves: children, cyclists and the family cat. Mental work matters as much as mileage, so mix walks with puzzle feeders and short training games. The heavy coat makes warm days risky; exercise early or late, carry water, and stop if your dog lags behind, pants hard or keeps seeking shade.
