How much exercise does a German Spitz need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a German Spitz enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
About 30 to 60 minutes a day suits most adults, with Mittels usually at the upper end. Two walks with time to sniff and explore, plus short training games, keep them content. Many enjoy agility, trick training and rally, and they are faster and more athletic than the fluffy outline suggests.
The thick coat that suits cold weather makes summer harder. Walk in the cooler parts of the day and watch for heavy panting or slowing down. A bored Spitz barks more and may chew, while an overtired one can turn snappy. Avoid long runs on hard surfaces before about 10 months.
