Ibizan Hound feeding guide: how much and how often
Daily calories, portions by age and practical feeding tips for the Ibizan Hound.
An active adult usually needs around 1,000 to 1,300 kcal a day, roughly 260 to 340 g of dry food (about 2.5 to 3.5 cups), split into two meals. Ibizans are naturally lean, and a healthy weight shows the last two or three ribs and the hip bones slightly.
They are often moderate eaters and can be picky if offered too many options. Keep feeding routine consistent and avoid excessive treats. Because they are lean and active, sudden weight loss or loss of appetite should be discussed with your vet.
The upright ears stay clear of the bowl, so a standard stainless bowl works well, but a tall, narrow dog often eats more comfortably when the bowl sits a little off the floor rather than forcing it to splay its front legs. Soaking kibble briefly in warm water can tempt a fussy eater in cold months, when these thin-coated hounds burn more energy just keeping warm.
